Add/Modify Mute Terminal User Configuration Profile

This function allows you to add and modify a mute terminal user configuration profile.

Configuration Procedure

• Add mute terminal user configuration profile
  
  1. Click the User tab in the top navigation bar, and then select Access User > Mute Terminal User Configuration Profile in the navigation tree.
  2. Click Add,and select By MAC Range, By IP Range, or By Endpoint Identification to enter the page for adding a mute terminal user configuration profile.
  3. Configure the configuration profile name, user name prefix, description, expiration date, priority, and MAC address ranges (IP address ranges or endpoint identification items).
  4. Select the service group, user group, and access service. Then, click OK.
• Modify mute terminal user configuration profile
  
  1. Click the User tab in the top navigation bar, and then select Access User > Mute Terminal User Configuration Profile in the navigation tree.
  2. Click the icon of the mute terminal user configuration profile that you want to modify.
  3. Change the user name prefix, description, priority, expiration date, MAC address ranges (IP address ranges or endpoint identification items), user group, or access service as needed. Then, click OK.

Parameters

• Configuration Profile Name: Name for the configuration profile, a unique, case-sensitive string of 1 to 32 characters. This parameter is required.
• User Name Prefix: When a mute terminal successfully accesses the network for the first time, INC automatically creates a user for it. The username is in the format of user name prefix-terminal MAC address. The parameter is a case-sensitive string of 1 to 7 characters.
• Service Group: Select a service group for the mute terminal configuration profile. The service group ensures privilege management of the mute terminal configuration profile. The administrators and maintainers can add the mute terminal configuration profile to one of the service groups to which they have the management privilege. The service group of the mute terminal configuration profile is not modifiable when you modify the configuration of the profile.
• User Group: Select a user group for the mute terminal users from the drop-down list. If the selected user group is deleted later, the user group configured for the mute terminal users will be changed to "ungroup".
• Expiration Date: Date after which the account of the mute terminal user becomes invalid automatically. If no date of invalidity is set, the account will never be invalid.
  
• Priority: The MAC-range-based configuration profile and IP-range-based configuration profile cannot have the same priority. For example, if MAC-range-based configuration profile MAC-1 is configured with priority 1, do not specify this priority for IP-range-based configuration profile IP-1. To perform authentication for a mute terminal, UAM checks the MAC-range-based configuration profiles and IP-range-based configuration profiles before checking the endpoint-identification-based configuration profiles. If the MAC address of the mute terminal is in multiple MAC-range-based configuration profiles, the mute terminal uses the access service of the configuration profile with the highest priority. This rule also applies when the IP address of the mute terminal is in multiple IP-range-based configuration profiles. If the mute terminal does not match any MAC-range-based or IP-range-based configuration files, UAM uses the OS, type, or vendor of the mute terminal to match endpoint-identification-based configuration profiles in descending order of priority. If a match exists, UAM assigns the matching access service to the mute terminal and creates an account for it. A smaller value indicates a higher priority.
• IPoE Password: Configure an IPoE authentication password for a user who uses a MAC address or IP address as the username.
• Max. Idle Time (Days): With this parameter configured in a scheduled task, the system will cancel users that have been continuously offline for the specified number of days and remove corresponding MAC addresses from the mute terminal configuration. When cancelling a user (not in a scheduled task), with Max Idle Time (Days) configured for the user-associated mute terminal, the system will record the most recent time when the user goes offline. When the offline duration reaches the specified number of days, the system will remove the user's MAC address from the mute terminal configuration.
• MAC Address Range

Configure a minimum of one MAC address range for which the account creation is allowed or prohibited. MAC address ranges of the mute terminal user configuration profiles with the same priority cannot overlap. The end MAC address must be equal to or greater than the start MAC address.

Batch Import

1. Select the file to be imported and the column separator, and then click Next.
2. Specify columns for Start MAC, End MAC, Auto Create Account, and Description. You can also select Not Imported, and enter a value.
3. Click OK.
• IP Address Range

Configure a minimum of one IP address range for which the account creation is allowed or prohibited. A maximum of 10000 IP address ranges are supported. IP address ranges of the mute terminal user configuration profiles with the same priority cannot overlap. The end IP address must be equal to or greater than the start IP address.

Batch Import

1. Select the file to be imported and the column separator, and then click Next.
2. Specify columns for Start IP, End IP, Auto Create Account, and Description. You can also select Not Imported, and enter a value.
3. Click OK.
• Endpoint Identification

Configure a minimum of one endpoint identification item for which the account creation is allowed or prohibited. A maximum of 10000 endpoint identification items are supported. Endpoint identification items of the mute terminal user configuration profiles with the same priority cannot overlap. You must configure a minimum of one endpoint identification item among OS, endpoint type, and vendor. The configured endpoint identification item must exist in the INC system.

Batch Import

1. Select the file to be imported and the column separator, and then click Next.
2. Specify columns for Endpoint OS Group, Endpoint Type Group, Vendor, Auto Create Account, and Description. You can also select Not Imported, and enter a value.
3. Click OK.
• Access Service: A service is listed in this area for you when it meets all these conditions: 1) It is in the Available state. 2) Its charging plan is free for charge, or the CAMS component is not installed. 3) It does not allow the UAM server to allocate IP addresses to users (No for the Allocate IP field). 4) You have the right to manage it.

Precautions

• The system supports 1024 mute terminal user configuration profiles at most.
• This mute terminal user configuration profile allows you to set an UAM access service, which is free of charge and does not assign any IP address.
• After the operators add or modify the mute terminal user configuration profile, the configuration will take effect in 15 minutes. The operators can also click Validate to make it effective immediately. To avoid triggering attack defense, do not have the configured dumb terminals access networks through the configuration profile until the profile takes effect. For a dumb terminal that has accessed to a network to pass authentication, wait one attack defense period specified in the Control User Authentication Wait Time field. To set the period, click the User tab, and then select User Access Policy > Service Parameters > System Settings > System Parameters from the navigation tree.
• The modifications do not affect existing users, but they take effect only on new users.
• By default, deleting a MAC address range does not delete the access user accounts of the MAC address range. To delete the accounts, select Yes for Delete Associated Access Users Upon Mute Terminal User Configuration Profile Modification on the system parameter configuration page.
