User Guide

CAMS provides accounting of access users. To access the network, users must type their own account name and password. Then the CAMS charges the users in real time based on the account name.

Quick Start

CAMS provides the accounting function in addition to the access service provided by UAM. To implement accounting, CAMS and UAM must cooperate together. In UAM, configure access devices, services, and users; in CAMS, configure charging plans and billing attributes. Then associate a charging plan with a service that is referenced by a user.

For example, the ISP installs CAMS and UAM, and plans to provide for user a monthly charged service with the flat rate of 50 dollars. Upon the initial operation, follow the steps to complete the configuration:

  1. Configure Access Device

    1) Select the User tab, and then in the navigation tree select User Access Policy > Access Device to enter the access device page.

    2) In the Access Device List area, click Add to enter the page for adding an access device.

    3) For instruction on how to add an access device, refer to Access Device.
  2. Configure a Charging Plan

    1) Select the User tab, and in the navigation tree select Accounting Manager > Charging Plans to enter the charging plan configuration page.

    2) Click Add to enter the page for adding a charging plan. Type a name 50FlatRate for the plan, select Flat rate as the charging template, and then type the description for the plan.


    3) Type 50 as the fixed fee, and click OK. Then the charging plan is created successfully.

  3. Configure Charging Parameters

    1) Select the User tab, and in the navigation tree select Accounting Manager > Charging Parameters to enter the page for configuring global charging and billing attributes and self-service settings.

    2) Click the icon Configure of the billing attributes item to enter the page for configuring billing attributes.
    Type 1 as the billing day, type 60 in the Save Bill Details for text box, and then select Enable from the Recharge drop-down list in the Self-Service Settings area.

    3) Click OK. The billing attributes are configured successfully.


    4) On the Charging Parameters page, click the icon Configure of the currency preference settings item to enter the currency preference configuration page.
    Type cent as the as the lowest subunit, and dollar as the main unit. Select 100 as the ratio between currency units, and type 2 as the decimal digits.

    5) Click OK. The currency preference settings are configured successfully.

    6) For instruction on how to configure currency preference settings, refer to Charging Parameters.

  4. Configure a Service

    1) Select the User tab, and then in the navigation tree select User Access Policy > Service Configuration to enter the service configuration page.

    2) Click Add to enter the page adding a service. Type the name 50FlatRate for the service, and select 50FlatRate as the charging plan.


    3) Click OK. The service is created successfully.


    4) For instruction on how to create a service, refer to Service Configuration.

  5. Configure an Account User

    1) Select the User tab and then from the navigation tree select Access User > All Access Users to enter the page of access user list.

    2) Click Add to enter the page for configuring an account user. Specify the fields accordingly. For example, Set the username to userA, type userA as the account name, and 123 as the password.

    3) Select Ordinary as the account type, and select the check box before 50FlatRate as the service.

    4) For instruction on how to configure an account user, refer to Access User Management.

Through the above five steps, user A can access the network with the account userA. To configure another account user using the same service, you can skip Step 1 through Step 4 and only follow the operations in Step 5. The features in Step 1, Step 4, and Step 5 are provided by UAM, and features in Step 2 and Step 3 are provided by CAMS. These two components must cooperate to implement user authentication and charging.
