Modify Local Password Policy
Perform this task to modify the local password policy.
Operation Procedure
- Click the User tab. From the navigation tree, select User Security Policy > Password Control. Enter the page for managing password control.
- Configure local password policy parameters.
- Click OK.
Parameters
- Enable Local Password Policy: Enable or disable the local password policy.
- Password must meet complexity requirements: Determines whether passwords must meet complexity requirements when they are changed or created.
The complexity requirements are as follows:
- A password cannot contain the user's account name or more than two consecutive characters in the user's full name.
- A password must include at least six characters in length.
- A Password must contain characters from three of the following types: upper class letters, lower class letters, digits, and special characters.
- Minimum Password Length: Determines the least number of characters a password must contain. The value range is 0 to 20. The value 0 indicates that no password is required.
- Maximum Password Age: Determines the maximum time period (in days) that a password can be used before being changed. The value range is 0 to 999. The value of 0 indicates that passwords never expire. If the maximum password age is not 0, the minimum password age must be less than the maximum password age. If the maximum password age is 0, the value range of the minimum password age is 0 to 998.
- Minimum Password Age: Determines the minimum time period that a password must be used before being changed. The value range is 0 to 998. The value of 0 enables immediate password changes.
- Enforce Password History: Determines the number of unique passwords a user account must have used before reusing an old password. The value range is 0 to 24. The value 0 indicates that the password can be used consecutively.
Precautions
- The local password policy does not take effect on domain users.
