Add Device
Adding a device is to put it under the system management. You can perform such operations as monitoring the device.
Parameters
- The v1, v2, and v3 refer to the SNMP versions.
- Device Label: The device name displayed on the platform.
- Automatically register to receive SNMP traps from supported devices: set SNMP traps of device send to NMS.
- Support Ping Operation:Devices that filter or do not respond to ping packets are considered as not supporting the ping operation. Examples are firewall devices.
- Add the device regardless of the ping result: Add the device even if it cannot be pinged.
- Use the loopback address as the management IP: Use the loopback address as the management IP.
Precautions
- The host name or the IP address is a must. If the device to be added already exists, the system prompts an error message, requiring you to type again.
- Device group refers to all the device groups that you have the right to manage. If you specify a device group, the device is added to the group. If not or the device group is deleted, the device is added to the Ungrouped Devices list.
- You can add the SNMP, Telnet and SSH settings by the SNMP, Telnet or SSH template or add them manually.
- If the SNMP settings need to be configured as SNMP v3, you must define the SNMP Template first. Then, select the SNMP template to finish the configuration.
- When the IP address of a device changes, remove the device with the old IP address from the system and add the device with the new IP address to the system. Otherwise, the system may fail to calculate the links and link aggregation information for the device.
- When the IP address of a device changes, if you click the More link on the latest 10 unrecovered alarm list, the page displays only the alarms after the IP change. To see the alarms before the change, modify the query criteria and query alarms again.
- The system stores some parameter settings for the current operator when the operator successfully adds a device, and displays them as the default settings next time the operator uses this function. The parameters include Login Type, Automatically register to receive SNMP traps from supported devices, Support Ping operation, Add the device regardless of the ping result, and Use the loopback address as the management IP options.
- If the newly added IPv6 device needs to send traps to the system, add the ipV6FaultHostIp attribute to the commonCfg.properties file in the <system installation directory>/client/conf, and configure a correct IPv6 address for the system.
