Telnet/SSH Proxy
With the Telnet/SSH proxy, an administrator can use a browser on any client to remotely access and manage devices through Telnet/SSH, without installing a Telnet/SSH tool on the client. In a network requiring high-level security, only the network management server is allowed to access and manage devices through Telnet/SSH, and an administrator cannot use a Telnet/SSH tool installed on any other client to access and manage devices. This function uses the system server as a proxy, and enables you to use the browser on a client to access devices, send configuration commands, and display the output through Telnet/SSH.
Operation Procedure
- Enter the Device Details page.
- Click Telnet/SSH Proxy on the action pane at the right.
- Click
to connect to the destination device.
Command Description
- This function supports a part of the command available for the destination device, supports only one-off commands (such a command is completed after the command is sent to the device and the output is displayed), and does not support interactive commands (after you input such a command, you are lead to a certain mode, and you need to perform more operations; for example, the vi command which is used to edit a file).
- The system performs special treatment for some commands, for example:
- clear: Clears the output on the current window and sends a Enter command.
Precautions
- This function displays the output on web pages. When the output must be displayed on multiple pages for multiple times, for example, when you press Space + Enter to display the output of the more command, the output may have redundant information.
- When you SSH to establish a connection, only the username and password authentication is supported, and the key authentication is not supported.
- The Telnet/SSH proxy automatically selects a login method (Telnet or SSH) according the login method configured on the device. By default, the login method is Telnet.
