Basic Mode
The system discovers the device in the network according to the administrator's network segments and SNMP settings. The SNMP settings in the basic mode support SNMPv2c only. You can configure the periodic auto discovery feature and save the current configuration as an auto discovery plan to perform auto discovery periodically.
Operation Procedure
- Click the Resource tab, and on the navigation tree, click Resource Management > Auto Discovery.
- Set network segments and other parameters.
- Configure the periodic discovery feature. To disable the feature, select Never from the list. To enable the feature, select Other from the list and set the auto discovery interval.
- Click Auto Discovery to perform the auto discovery immediately. Click Save Only to save the configuration but not to perform auto discovery. Click Save as Plan to save the configuration as an auto discovery plan, which enables system to execute auto discovery at the auto discovery interval. The Save as Plan option is available only when the periodic discovery feature is enabled.

Precautions
- To save the configuration as a plan in the basic mode, make sure no private key-related mode is selected for the SSH Authentication Mode field. To save settings with a private key-related mode specified as a plan, switch auto discovery to the advanced mode.
- During auto discovery, if the number of IP addresses in a subnet is 100 times greater than the number of discovered devices in that subnet, the progress bar might not change.
