Configuration Examples
Scenario
Service-critical devices require passwords to be changed periodically. However, it is low efficient and insecure to manually change the passwords for multiple devices.
In Intelligent Policy Center, configure a policy to periodically change the password for each device and send the password email to the device administrator.
Customize the email content in the email action settings as needed.
Procedure
- Add an event:
- Click the Service tab. From the navigation tree, select Intelligent Policy Center > Event Configuration.
- Click Add.
- Select Periodic Event as the event type.
- Enter an event name in the Name field. This example uses scheduled_monthly_1st_12_00_00am.
- In the Task Schedule Information area, configure the task to be executed periodically at 00:00:00 on the first day of every month.
- Click OK.
- Add a policy:
- Click the Service tab. From the navigation tree, select Intelligent Policy Center > Policy Management.
- Click Add.
- Enter a policy name in the Policy Name field. This example uses Generate random pwd,send email.
- Click Select Event next to Event to Process, select the event named scheduled monthly 1st 12_00_00am, and click OK.
- Select It takes effect on the whole network or configure the network segments to which the policy applies.
- Select The policy is always effective.
- Configure the action targets as needed. This example uses the default settings.
- On the Action Configuration tab, click Select Action and select the Generate Random Password and Email actions.
- Configure parameters for the password generation action and email action.
- Click OK.
- View events and the execution result:
- Click the Service tab. From the navigation tree, select Intelligent Policy Center > View Event.
- View the Generate Random pwd,send email event on the page. The event indicates that the system has generated a password for the device and sent the password email to the device administrator.
