Device Area Management

Use the device area management function to define the device areas based on different criteria such as device level and geographical location. TAM supports a maximum of 512 device areas of five levels. It displays the device areas in a tree structure, facilitating visual, convenient and flexible device management.

Features

• Add Device Area
  
  Perform this task to add a level-1 device area.

  Procedure

  1. Click the User tab, and select Device User Policy > Authorization Conditions > Device Areas from the navigation tree to open the Device Area List page.
  2. Click Add to open the page for adding a device area.
  3. Type the device area name and description. The parent area name of the level-1 device area is displayed as --.
  4. Click OK.
• Add Sub-Area
  
  Perform this task to add a sub area. If a device area has devices, you cannot add a sub area to this device area.

  Procedure

  1. Click the User tab, and select Device User Policy > Authorization Conditions > Device Areas from the navigation tree to open the Device Area List page.
  2. Click the icon of the target sub area to open the page for modifying the area.
  3. Modify the area name and description. The parent area name is displayed.
  4. Click OK.
• Modify Device Area or Sub Area
  
  Perform this task to modify a device area or sub area.

  Procedure

  1. Click the User tab, and select Device User Policy > Authorization Conditions > Device Areas from the navigation tree to open the Device Area List page.
  2. Click the icon of the target device area to open the page for modifying the device area.
  3. Modify the area name and description.
  4. Click OK.
• Delete Device Area
  
  Perform this task to delete a device area except the following:

  • A device area used by an authorization policy. To delete the device area, first remove it from the authorization policy.
  • A device area that contains a device or sub area. To delete the device area, first move the device from the area to another area or delete the sub area from the area.

  Procedure

  1. Click the User tab, and select Device User Policy > Authorization Conditions > Device Areas from the navigation tree to open the Device Area List page.
  2. Click the icon of the target device area.
     A confirmation dialog box appears.
  3. Click OK.
• Operator Privileges
  
  Perform this task to change the management privileges of an operator to device areas.

  Procedure

  1. Click Operator Privileges.
  2. To display all device areas that an operator can manage, click the login name of the operator.
  3. To modify the privileges of an operator, click theicon of the operator.
  4. Select the device areas that the operator can manage. With the Select Associated Device Areas option selected, all sub areas associated with a device area will be selected when the device area is selected.
  5. Click OK.
