RMON Extension Alarm Group Management

The RMON private alarm group is an extension of the RMON alarm group. It enables you to perform basic math operations on multiple variables and compare the calculation result with the rising and falling thresholds. Some vendors have developed their RMON private alarm groups. RMON extension alarm group supports not only alarm configuration for a single object, but also alarm configuration for the object expression. It supports not only interface configuration, but also configuration for any valid index instance value. Thus it is called extension alarm. With RMON extension alarm group management, you can add or delete an RMON extension alarm group, and view invalid RMON extension alarm groups.

Operation Procedure

  1. Select the Resource tab.

Main Functions

Parameters

Field

Description

Sampling Object Expression

Several formulas composed of OIDs and arithmetic expressions. Alarms are generated based on the operation result.

Stat Item

The statistics item and port description comprise the MIB variable to be monitored.

Port Desc

The statistics item and port description comprise the MIB variable to be monitored.

Alarm Sampling Type

Three sampling types are available, namely, absolute sampling, delta sampling and speed sampling. For the meaning of absolute sampling and delta sampling, refer to adding alarm item. Speed sampling refers to the delta sampling value per unit of time, that is, the delta sampling value divided by the sampling interval.

Alarm Startup Type

Three alarm startup types are available, namely, rising and falling alarm, rising alarm and falling alarm.

Interval

Specifies the interval for sampling. It is valid only when during is selected as the statistics type.

Stat. Type

Two statistics period types are available, namely, forever and during. If you select during, you need to specify the sampling interval.

Status

Two statuses are available, namely, Active and Inactive.
