IGMP Snooping Configuration
This function helps you set the IGMP snooping parameters. When IGMP snooping is globally enabled, you can change the IGMP snooping status for the listed VLANs separately or in batches.
Operation Procedure
- Select the Resource tab.
- Select the device to be managed from the device list to enter the Device Details page.
- Click IGMP Snooping Configuration in the Protocol Management list.
- Set the global IGMP snooping status, aging time of router port, maximum response time of query, and aging time of multicast port, and then click OK.
- When IGMP snooping is globally enabled, you can select one or more VLANs for which you want to change the IGMP snooping status, and click Modify.
- Set the IGMP snooping status for the VLANs, and click OK.
Parameters
-
Global IGMP Snooping Status: Global IGMP snooping may be in the Enable state or Disable
state. Enable indicates IGMP snooping is enabled, and Disable indicates IGMP
snooping is disabled on the device. By default, the IGMP snooping state is Enable.
-
Aging Time of Routing Port (second): The routing port should be deleted from all port members
of the MAC multicast group if IGMP general queries were not received within the
aging time of routing port. By default, the aging time of a routing port is 280
seconds.
-
Maximum Response Time of Query (second): If no IGMP reports are received within the query response
time, the port will be removed from the multicast member ports. By default, the
maximum response time to IGMP queries is 10 seconds.
-
Aging Time of Multicast Port (second): If no multicast report is received on a port within the
aging time of the port, group-specific queries are sent to the port. By
default, the aging time of a multicast port is 260 seconds.
-
Expected Packet Loss: This variable allows tuning for the expected packet loss on a network.
The default is 2 and the range is 1 to 7.
-
Query Status: Enabled/Disabled IGMP Queries for this device.
The default value is Enable(1). The range is Enable(1) or
Disable(2).
-
IP Address of Query: This is the IP address used in IGMP Queries.
The default value is the management IP address.
-
Last Member's Query Timeout(second): A timeout interval in seconds. Maximum response time inserted into the IGMP
group specific queries sent in response to an IGMP Leave by a querying switch.
The default is 1 second and the range is 1 to 5 seconds.
-
Leave Messages Status: Enables/Disables the processing of IGMP v2 leave messages stack-wide. Enable(1) is
the default. Enable(1) or Disable(1) is the range.
-
Query Timeout(second): The frequency at which IGMP general query packets are transmitted on this VLAN
by the querying switch in seconds. The default is 60 seconds and
the range is 60 to 125 seconds.
-
Max. Response Time of Query(second): The maximum query response time in seconds advertised in IGMP v2 queries on this
VLAN if the switch is the querier. Smaller values allow a switch to prune groups faster. The default is 10 seconds and the range is 10 to 100 seconds.
-
Max. Last Member's Query Count: The number of group specific queries sent before the querying switch decides
that there are no more hosts listening to a particular group multicast address. The default is 2 and the range is 2 to 5.
- VLAN ID: The ID of the VLANs configured on the device. The value ranges from 1 to 4094.
- IGMP Snooping Status: IGMP snooping of a specific VLAN may be in the Enable state or Disable state.
Precautions
-
IGMP snooping is mutually exclusive with GMRP. Therefore, when GMRP is running, you cannot enable IGMP snooping.
