Operation Procedure

- Click MSTP Management in the protocol management list.
- Click the MSTI tab of the MSTP Management page.
Parameter Description
-
Priority: The priority of a bridge decides whether or not the bridge can be selected as the root of the spanning tree. You can make a specific switch be selected as the root bridge by setting a lower bridge priority for the switch. An MSTP-enabled switch can have different bridge priorities in different spanning tree instances. The bridge priority of a switch is 32768 by default.
-
Root Type: Configuring the network bridge role is a kind of priority configuration. The bridge role can be Normal, Secondary, or Primary. Normal set the priority to 32768, Primary sets the priority to 0, and Secondary sets the priority to 4096. A bridge with a lower priority value has a higher priority in root bridge election. Be default, the role of a bridge is Normal.
-
Admin VLAN ID: Admin VLAN ID is used to configure the MSTI corresponding to a certain VLAN. The configured VLAN-to-instance mapping does not take effect until MSTP is enabled.
Precautions
-
For your convenience in VLAN configuration, you can input VLAN IDs in the form of 1, 5-100.
-
A larger VLAN range requires longer configuration time. If you specify 4094 VLANs, you might wait seven or eight minutes for the system to complete the configuration.
