Rogue AP Locating

Perform this task to locate rogue APs. Results are displayed in the topology view.

Procedure

Method 1

1. Click the Service tab.
2. From the WLAN Manager navigation tree, select WIDS Management to open the WIDS Management page.
3. Select Rogue APs on the WIDS Management page to open the Rogue AP page.
4. Click the Operations link of the target rogue AP. Click Locate to display the topology view where the AP that detects the rogue AP is located.

The system will display the physical location of the rogue AP in the topology view.

5. Right-click on a blank area of the topology, and then select Stop Locate to stop the locating operation.

Method 2

1. Click the Service tab.
2. From the WLAN Manager navigation tree, select Wireless Topology to open the wireless topology page.
3. Double-click the target AC icon to open the device topology page.
4. Right-click on the rogue AP in the topology, and then select Locate from the shortcut menu.

The system will display the physical location of the rogue AP in the topology where the AP that detects the rogue AP is located.

5. Right-click on a blank area of the topology, and then select Stop Locate to stop the current locating operation.

Remarks

• The location of a rogue AP detected in the initial locating operation is not the final result. The system will adjust the location over time.
• The WSM component allows a maximum of five INC operators to perform rogue AP or client locating. Each operator can locate one rogue AP or client at a time.
• The basic WLAN Manager does not support this function.
