ACL Resource

In practice, you might need to address the following requirements:

• Use ACLs for traffic classification, with each ACL corresponding to a service.
• Apply a service to different applications that use different ACLs.

In ACL Management, ACL resources are used to address these requirements. An ACL resource includes:

• Basic information: Corresponds to the service that uses the ACL. The different applications to which the same service is applied have the same basic information.
  The basic information of an ACL resource includes:
  • ACL number
  • ACL type
  • Step
  • Match order
• Rule set: Includes ACL rules tailored to different applications.

The one-to-one mapping between ACL resource and service ensures that different applications of a service use the same ACL number. For example, a company uses ACL resources to implement EAD security policies. They can deploy the ACL with the same number on the access switches and selecting different ACL rule sets. This helps meet diversified applications requirements under a general resource plan.

The following figure illustrates the relationship among ACL resource, device configuration and template.

In ACL Management, to configure an ACL resource:

1. Create an ACL resource.
2. Add or import an ACL rule set to the ACL resource.
3. Configure ACL rules in the rule set.

To view the ACL resource list:

Click the Service tab, and then click ACL Resource in the navigation tree. The ACL Resource page appears.
