System Parameters Config
This function helps configure and modify service parameters for desktop asset management.
Operation Procedure
- Select the User tab, and in the navigation tree of Desktop Asset Manager, click Service Parameters.
-
On the new page, edit the parameters, such as asset number prefix, scan interval, heartbeat interval, heartbeat retries, heartbeat retry interval, life of log, asset policy request period, server IP, service port, proxy server IP, and proxy server port.
- Click OK.
Precautions
- You can set an asset number prefix only when Auto Number is set to Enable.
- The auto number function is enabled only when no asset entity is available in the system database.
Parameters
- Asset Number Prefix: Specifies the string to be prefixed to an automatically created asset number. An automatically created asset number is in the format "prefix+YYMMDD+XXXX", where "prefix" is the value of this argument, YYMMDD is the date on which the asset number is created, and XXXX is the sequence number. For example, ASSET0712180001.
- Auto Register: Enable or disable the automatic asset registration feature. To enable this feature, make sure that the automatic asset numbering feature is enabled. The automatic asset registration feature enables the DAM client to automatically register assets without manual intervention.
- Verify Asset: Whether or not to verify assets for registration. This parameter appears only when automatic registration is disabled in automatic numbering mode. If you want to disable asset verification, make sure the User >> Desktop Asset Manager >> Verify Asset page does not contain any pending or disapproved assets. When asset verification is enabled, you cannot modify the Auto Number and Auto Register parameters.
- Scan Interval: Specifies the interval at which the iNode client scans asset information (excluding disk partitions) for asset software and hardware changes. The iNode client not scans when this parameter is 0. To avoid wearing out the disks, the DAM scans the disk partitions only when the iNode client is started.
- Heartbeat Interval: Specifies the interval at which a client sends heartbeats to the server.
- Heartbeat Retries: Specifies the maximum number of heartbeat retransmission attempts. If a client receives no response after sending a heartbeat, it retransmits the heartbeat. If the value of this argument is reached but it still receives no response, it considers that the connection with the server is broken.
- Heartbeat Retry Interval: Specifies how long a client should wait before retransmitting a heartbeat if it receives no response to the heartbeat.
- Life of Log: Specifies how long the peripheral log entry, the printer log entry and the USB monitoring log entry should be kept in the log database. Once the time elapses, the log entry is deleted.
- Asset Change Record Lifetime: Specifies how long the records of asset software or hardware changes will be kept in the database. The records whose lifetime expires are removed at 03:00 am every day.
- Asset Policy Request Period: Specifies the interval at which a client sends a request for the up-to-date asset policy information. An asset policy changes when, for example, an administrator modifies a service argument or adds a software deploy task.
- Server Port: The port that the DAM server uses to listen to requests from the console. Modify this port only when the listening port of the DAM server is modified in the configuration file.
- Proxy Server Port: The port that the DAM proxy server uses to listen to requests from the clients. Modify this port only when the listening port of the DAM proxy server is modified in the configuration file.
- Packets Encrypted: Defines whether DAM packets can be encrypted.
- Desktop Asset Server Log Level: Specifies the log level, which currently can be Fatal, Error, Warning, Info or Debugging, in descending order. The DAM server will log all syslog messages of that level and above. Note that the Debugging level will consume a large quantity of system resources and is therefore not recommended in normal cases.
- Send Syslogs: Enable or disable the DAM to send to the syslog server the alarms that are generated when the monitoring alarm policies are violated.
- Syslog Server IP: IP address of the syslog server.
- Report Network Connection Changes: Whether or not to enable the iNode client to report network connection changes. Enable the option for assets that use static IP addresses. With this option, DAM is immediately aware of any manual change to the network connection settings. Do not enable the option for assets that obtain IP addresses through DHCP unless for troubleshooting. Network connection configuration changes do not include IPv6 address changes.
- Asset-Access Account Binding: Binds an asset with the access account of the asset owner for registration. The asset can register only when you have passed authentication by using the bound access account. If the asset owner is not specified, the user of the access account that you have used to pass authentication for the first time is registered as the access owner.
- Asset File Check Records Lifetime: Period for how long the asset file check records are kept in the database. Every morning at two o'clock, the system deletes expired file check records.
- Display Asset Monitoring Information: Display or hide asset monitoring information on the detailed page of an access account.
- DAM Service Group: Enable or disable the DAM service group feature, which takes effect based on the EIA service group feature. The DAM service group feature is available only when the EIA service group feature is enabled and EIA of version later than 7.3(E0608) is deployed in the INC system.
- Rank Assets by Startup Time: When this parameter is enabled, the server delivers startup time rankings to the assets that have reported their startup time to the server.
- Startup Time Validity: Number of days in which the reported startup time of an asset is considered valid and placed on the rankings.
- Asset Report Interval: The iNode client reports all asset information at the specified interval. The value of 0 disables periodic asset reporting.
- Identifies an Asset Only by Disk Serial Number: Determines whether to uniquely identify an asset only by disk serial number. Enable this parameter to uniquely identify an asset only by disk serial number. When this parameter is disabled, an asset is uniquely identified by the collaboration of the disk serial number, computer name, and client ID.
- Offline Asset Lifetime: Specify how many days DAM keeps offline assets. Expired offline assets are deleted from DAM automatically. The value of 0 indicates that the lifetime of offline assets is not limited.
- Check MAC Address of Online Assets: Select Yes to check whether the MAC address of registered assets whey they come online matches the MAC address of the assets when they were registered. If the MAC addresses match for an asset, the asset can come online. If the MAC addresses do not match, the asset is considered a new asset that requires registration.
- Asset Registration Interval: Interval at which the DAM client initiates registration requests for an unregistered asset.
- Database Table Space Alarm Threshold (GB): The system examines the table space used by the EAD database at 4:00 a.m. every day and sends an alarm if the used space exceeds the threshold. The default threshold is 50 GB.
- Monitor Service Changes: The feature enables the clients to report service changes to the server.
- Monitor Process Changes: The feature enables the clients to report process changes to the server.
- Bulk Export Limit: Specifies the maximum number of entries that you can export. The default value is 20000.
