If you do not want to manage a device, you can set the status of the device as unmanaged. When you want to manage the device again, you can set the status of the device as managed. The network management system does not poll the devices that is in the unmanaged state.
If you disable the management for a device that is in the managed state, the status of the device changes to the unmanaged state. In the meanwhile, the device icon changes to grey In the topological view. The system no longer generates alarms about this device. The existed historical alarms, however, is saved by system. If you enable device management for the unmanaged device, the status of the device changes to the
unknown state. The status of the device changes to its actual state after the next polling, and the device icon is brightened in the topological view.
