This menu displays the operations you can take on an asset.
Move Asset Between Groups
Moves an asset to another group. To move an asset to another group, click Regroup in the Action menu to enter the Move Assets Between Groups page.
Modify
Modifies an asset. To modify an asset, click Modify to enter the Modify Asset page.
Delete
Deletes an asset. To delete an asset, click Delete and then click OK.
Scan Changes
Scans an asset. To scan an asset, click Scan Changes. When the scan is complete, the latest asset information is reported to the DAM, which then updates the asset details and records the changes. For more information about the asset changes, see Precautions.
Scan All Information
Click the Scan All Info link to scan all information about the asset and report the most recent asset information to DAM. DAM then updates asset details and records the updates to asset details. When you click the Scan Changes link, the iNode client reports only the asset changes to DAM.
Software Deployment
Displays the software deployment details of an asset. To view the software deployment details of an asset, click SW Deployment.
USB File Transfer
Displays the USB monitoring information of an asset. To view the USB monitoring information of an asset, click USB File Transfer in the Action menu.
Printer Use
Displays the printer monitoring information of an asset. To view the printer monitoring information of an asset, click Printer Use in the Action menu.
Check Asset Files
You can configure a task to search files by a set of criteria on an asset. The criteria include asset number, file path, and file name. All matching files in the specified directory and the subfolders are listed.
The asset file check is not applicable to assets with running firewalls.
Change History
Displays the change history of an asset. To view the change history of an asset, click Change History in the Action menu.
Stop Services
To stop services on the asset, click Stop Services in the Actions menu.
Stop Processes
To stop processes on the asset, click Stop Processes in the Actions menu.
Stop Ports
To stop ports on the asset, click Stop Ports in the Actions menu.
Stop Services/Processes/Ports Operation Results
Click Stop Services/Processes/Ports Operation Results in the Actions menu to view the operation results.
Stopping services, processes, and ports do not delete the related services, processes, or ports.
ACK Status: Displays whether information about an asset has been administratively acknowledged. If the DAM is set to automatically number assets, assets are reported by users and their ACK status defaults to No, that is, unacknowledged. The ACK status of an asset will change to Yes (acknowledged) after its information is checked and manually acknowledged. If automatic asset numbering is disabled, assets must be manually added and their ACK status is Yes by default.
Access device: Access device that connects to the asset. For INC to obtain the access device information, the following requirements must be met:
When asset groups are created based on user groups, the Regroup link does not appear.
The scan operation not available for an offline asset.
If a PC is installed with multiple Windows operating systems, you can register the PC as an asset in each operating system. The latest asset information takes effect, and the asset is in online state only in the operating system that was last used for asset registration.
Asset changes can be hardware changes or software changes. Any change in the BIOS, mainboard, memory, CPU, NIC, hard disk drive, and DVD/CD-ROM drive is a hardware change, while any change in the computer name, operating system, system information, screensaver, IP address, disk partition, logical disk, and software program is a software change. You can configure DAM to ignore changes in the IP address by selecting Desktop Asset Manager > Desktop Asset Manager from the navigation tree and selecting No from the Display IP Change dropdown list. In addition, changes in patches, progresses, services, and sharing are not recorded.
A hardware change is recorded if any change in the following occurs:
BIOS caption, vendor, release date and version
Mainboard vendor and model
Total memory
CPU model serial number and name
Device instance path of an NIC
Interface type and device instance path of a hard disk drive
Device instance path of a DVD/CD-ROM drive
A software change is recorded if any change in the following occurs:
Computer name
Name, version, patch, installation date, and language of the operating system
Login name
Screensaver status (enabled or disabled), status of resuming with Welcome screen (enabled or disabled), and idle time
NIC serial number, IP address, DHCP status (enabled or disabled), gateway, MAC address, and subnet mask
Hard disk number, partition number, partition type, boot partition, and partition size
Name, description, file system, serial number, total size
Software name and version
An asset change involves multiple items.
