Device View
The device view shows the basic information and management operations for the managed devices by type. You can click a device type in the device view to view all devices of this type.
The devices are classified to the following types: router, switch, server, security, storage device, surveillance device, wireless device, voice device, printer, UPS device, desktop and other SNMP devices.
Desktops refer to devices with ICMP enabled (pingable) but SNMP disabled.
With any access component installed, the device view of a router or switch includes an Online Users column. You can click the link to view the Online User List.
Functions
Precautions
- Each type name is followed by a number enclosed by square brackets ([]), indicating the number of devices of this type.
- Device types are predefined by the system, and do not support custom.
- The status of a device view depends on the status of the device(s) in it raising the highest level of alarm. The icon of a device view is grayed out if there is no device in the view.
- For an admin, the device view shows all the devices in the network. For the other operators, the device view shows only the devices to which they have management access.
- Your device additions/deletions to/from an IP view are synchronized to the device view.
- Charts generated through the Generate Charts function cannot be zoomed in or out.
Parameters
- The layer 3 interface status in a router view reflects the severest status among all layer 3 interfaces of the router that have an IP address. For example, if any of the layer 3 interfaces is DOWN, the layer 3 interface status of the router is DOWN. Any disabled or unknown interface is blocked out for status calculation.
- The interface status in a switch view reflects the severest status among all interfaces of the switch. For example, if any of the interfaces is DOWN, the interface status shown in the list is DOWN. Any disabled or unknown interface is blocked out for status calculation.
