Asset Software Change
This function helps quickly query asset software changes. There are two kinds of queries, basic query and advanced query, depending on the complexity of the query conditions you specify. You can only query the asset software changes that you have the right to manage and view.
In the asset change list, click the link of an asset number to enter the Details page. This page provides an Action menu for management. This menu helps you view software deploy tasks and historical information. For details, see Action Menu for an Asset.
In the asset change list, click the Details link, and the details of each change are displayed.
A software change is recorded if any change in the following occurs:
Computer name
Name, version, patch, installation date, and language of the operating system
Login name
Screensaver status (enabled or disabled), status of resuming with Welcome screen (enabled or disabled), and idle time
NIC serial number, IP address, DHCP status (enabled or disabled), gateway, MAC address, and subnet mask
Hard disk number, partition number, partition type, boot partition, and partition size
Name, description, file system, serial number, total size
Software name and version

Parameters
- Reinstall OS: After a user re-installs the operating system, when the user re-registers the asset through the iNode client, the iNode client re-collects information of all assets and then reports the information to DAM. DAM records such asset changes as Reinstall OS. For the Reinstall OS type, the computer name, operating system, system information, screensaver, IP address, partition, logical disk, and all software of the current system are recorded as changes. The software is recorded as new installed.
- Common Update: When a user changes assets normally, for example, add a memory bar and install/uninstall software, the iNode client collects and then reports to DAM only the information of the changed assets. DAM records such asset changes as Common Update.
- Other Update: The iNode client saves the current asset information in a file locally. If the file is corrupted, for example, deleted after uninstalling the iNode client, the newly installed iNode client will collect and then report to DAM the information of all assets. DAM records such asset changes as Other Update. For the Other Update type, the computer name, operating system, system information, screensaver, Network Connections, partition, logical disk, and all software of the current system are recorded as changes. The software is recorded as new installed.
Precautions
- An asset can have multiple change histories.
- When Report Network Connection Changes is disabled in the System Parameters Config page, network connection changes on assets are no longer collected as asset software changes and EAD no longer displays history network connection changes.
- Network connection configuration changes do not include IPv6 address changes.
- The system does not record green software as a software change.
- The periodic asset change reports will be recorded as entries of the Other Update type.
